Wash the moong dal in a bowl, swishing the grains in several changes of water until it runs clear. Combine the moong dal, carrot, water and cardamom pods in a medium soup pot and bring to boil.   4. Heat a pan, transfer the puree into it, add 2 cups of water, black pepper and salt if required, mix it well and give it a boil and then switch off the flame.
  5. Serve it hot by garnishing it with some grated carrot and mint leaves.
