  1. Take 1 big cat Fish
  2. Take 1 teaspoon Crayfish
  3. Prepare Salt
  4. Make ready 2 Maggi cubes
  5. Prepare 5 medium sized sliced yam
  6. Prepare 1 small sized Onion
  7. Prepare 1 medium sized dry fish
  8. Take 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  9. Get 1 wrap Ogiri(fermented locust bean)

It is commonly seen in the eastern part of Nigeria, the Igbos and some parts of south south. It is also called white soup because it requires little or no palm oil. Nsala soup is made with small pieces of yam with utazi leaves. The soup originates from the Eastern part of Nigeria and Delta State particularly Ogwashi-uku and Ubulu-uku towns.

Instructions to make Nsala soup:
  1. Wash dryfish with warm water and salt.remove the bones.
  2. Boil with onion,Salt and Maggi for at least 20minutes.
  3. Slice out yam and boil for 15minutes.pound very well with mortar.
  4. Add more water to the dry fish and boil.onces is boiling add the pounded yam
  5. Allow to boil very well.awell.add the cat Fish.
  6. Add onion and salt cover the pot and boil for about 10-15minutes.
  7. Uncover the pot and add pepper,crayfish and ogiri.
  8. Boil for another 7minutes.soup is ready.
